Peter Hiett is the son of a Presbyterian pastor, whom he greatly adored. After receiving a degree in Geology from the University of Colorado, Peter earned an M.Div. Degree from Fuller Seminary in Pasadena CA. He’s been the lead pastor at the Sanctuary since 2008 and before that pastored some of our people at a church in Golden. Peter has authored three books… that you should read! He has been ordained by the Presbyterian Church USA, the Evangelical Presbyterian Church and now, our body, The Sanctuary. He has been married to Susan, his high school sweetheart, since 1983. They have four wonderful children that Peter likes most of the time.
FACT: Peter was once a Kirby Vacuum Cleaner salesman—a career in which he did not excel.
Pastor of Congregational Care
Frances Forgione is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Licensed Addictions Counselor. She oversees Deacons & Helping Hands, provides pastoral counseling to church members, and leads classes and various events. She has over 30 years of counseling and ministry experience including work at her downtown private practice on Larimer Square, Lookout Mountain Community Church, Cherry Hills Community Church, Colorado Christian University, She is married to Bill Forgione and has three step-daughters. They enjoy biking, exercising, going out with friends, and traveling to Cape Cod.
FACT: Frances was once an extra in the made-for-TV movie Dying to Be Perfect: The Ellen Hart Peña Story.
Pastor of Community Life
After Kathleen Kegel completed her Masters of Divinity at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, she was ordained with the Presbyterian Church (PC-USA) and later transferred ordination to The Sanctuary. Her role at the Sanctuary includes connecting people through classes, life groups, and connect gatherings. She enjoys time with friends, music, tennis, and visiting her family in California.
FACT: Kathleen once ate squirrel meat when visiting kinfolk in greater Appalachia. She declined the next course, despite her hosts’ insistence that “the brain is the best part.”
Pastor of Children’s Ministry
Angie Dancer is passionate about God and His love expressed through His story. She is also passionate about children. She has worked with children/youth for almost 20 years, in various capacities including children’s ministry, youth ministry, education, and therapy. She has a Bachelor’s degree from Multnomah Bible College in Biblical Education with a youth ministry minor and a Masters in Counseling from Colorado Christian University. When she is not running Children’s ministry, she is reading Harry Potter to her kids, or working at her play therapy office.
FACT: In elementary school, Angie and her dog puppet performed ventriloquism acts for backyard Bible clubs.
Pastor of Worship Arts
Vincent Colbert loves coffee, music, and the mountains. If he’s not practicing guitar, preparing a worship set, or working in the studio, he’s probably out hiking with his wife Alison or drinking a cappuccino at a local coffeeshop. Vince has a bachelor’s degree in sociology from Texas State University and an associate’s degree in music production and engineering. vincentcolbertmusic.com
FACT: An accomplished barista, Vince once competed in the South Central Regional Barista Competition.
Kimberly Weynen is a wife, a mom, and a Colorado native who loves being in the mountains and sunshine. Her background is in International Relations/Russian & Biblical Studies, and she has spent much of her adult life overseas doing mission work. She is so grateful for her overseas opportunities realizing that in “sharing the gospel,” the Gospel found her. Kimberly and her family are thrilled to be part of sharing the great news of God’s Relentless Love (Col. 1:17-20) here at The Sanctuary, both locally and globally.
FACT: Kimberly had her own personal KGB agent while living in Russia in the early 90s.
Glen Gibson grew up in Miami, FL and moved to Colorado in 1992. He met his wife Tina in 1995 and they have been married now for 21 years. They have two great kids Mykayla and Josh. Glen has been involved in television productions and audio/video work since 1988 in Miami and here in Denver. He has been working with our church from the start and became our Media Director in 2015. Glen produces our weekly web broadcasts and sends our messages out on Facebook every week.
FACT: Glen is also a fabulous mailman.
Michael Hanna is a composer, author, and graphic designer. Michael received his degree in Music Composition from DU’s Lamont School of Music in 2006. Besides his four solo-piano albums, much of Michael’s musical work has been for Adams Place, a non-profit organization dedicated to changing lives through creative inspirational mental health education. With Adams Place, Michael also helped produce an award-winning book, Crazy: A Creative and Personal Look at Mental Illness, and an engaging educational video This Is Your Brain. At the Sanctuary, Michael’s duties involve the sNews, eNews, announcement slides, special graphics, and the text formatting of Peter’s next book.
FACT: Michael has a grapefruit tree named Gary he planted from seeds in 2004.
